The "Shì wànxí" virus, colloquially mistranslated in the west as the Swansong Virus, was an extreme bioaerosol agent that could cause late-onset androgen insensitivity disorder, primarily in males with heavily Caucasian genetic profiles. Females and members belonging to other ethnic groups could contract and submit the virus, but suffered virtually no symptoms from it. This complicated the efforts of medical research to fight the viral spread before the point at which it had become endemic and incurable. Translated literally, the virus' name means "it's a pity".
Adult androgen insensitivity is devastating in males of any age, resulting in sudden and severe atrophy of the reproductive glands. Subjects report shrinkages in the penile organs by 50-250% occurring over a matter of weeks and months, blood capillaries unable to sustain an erect position, and intercourse becoming all but unthinkable. Nevertheless sex drive is often unchanged, resulting in daily discomfort, dissatisfaction and anger, only briefly relieved by compulsive onanism, which many patients ultimately resort to in solitude.
Early public reception to the details of the virus were heavily sidetracked by humor and ridicule, making it difficult to isolate in the early months. Furthermore, male doctors and scientists susceptible to the virus were unwilling to risk exposure while studying it, slowing medical research that could have combatted the early outbreak.
Ultimately the Swansong Virus became endemic to all parts of the world, with virtually all Caucasian males living and unborn affected by it to some degree. For this reason, Caucasian females often feel they have no choice but to surrender themselves to PCCU registration just for the possibility of fulfilling sexual activity and childbirth. Ironically, IVF technology pioneered by the PCCU is now the only thing preventing total extinction in the remaining Caucasian populace. With now total dependence on their benefactors for survival, most of the major remaining white resistance groups have either melted away or surrendered their leadership to the authorities. A realistic alternative to collaboration will never again exist.
