Gender TS/TV? hmm, only the T is right.
|
Someone who knows how to, should please ask ImageFap to update the
"TS/TV" (transexual/transvestite) as one of the gender opions to choose
from for profiles on this site.
Let me address the most obvious one first. "TV".
"TV" (trans-vestism)
is clearly not a gender denomination, but a kind of sexual practice
(consisting in dressing up in the other sex's clothes; that's all), just
as things like BDSM or scat are sexual practices and no one is waving
those as their genders, the clothes a person may occasionally wear for fun have nothing to do with this person's gender.
Neither is "TS" (trans-sexual) a correct definition of any gender. While gender is a trait of the mind, sex (as in trans-"sexual") is a trait of the body. The term trans-sexual points not at a person's gender (which is in the mind), but to a person's body
(indicating this person has taken a number of physical body
modifications to make its aspect closer to that of the other sex, by
means of hormonal treatments and/or surgeries).
It follows naturally that the correct gender related term then is obviously transgender (abreviated TG), and it's not complete by itself as there are transgender women and transgender men.
So profiles here should allow users to chose those from the pool of
options (and yes, get rid of the plainly wrong and unfortunate "TS/TV").

Agreed. Those categories must be 20 years old and human understanding of what this stuff means for people like us has grown since then.

Completely agree with all this- Gender needs to have more options including gender fluid, non binary etc etc. Likewise orientation needs more options such as pansexual/ queer - its acceptable these days! e.g. I would define myself as non binary and pansexual!
