Recently I read that about one year ago Abby Winters announced its folding. Or better, it has discontinued the production of new stuff and is making a linving by issuing the unpublished material and remastering the old one.
My reaction reading that news has swinged between boredom and indifference, because I wondered “Heck, is Abby Winters still around in 2024?”

Let’s be honest, Abby Winters is a wreck of the Internet 1.0 (for the few who don’t know what it is about, is an Australian-born website now hosted in the Netherlands, where so-called amateur girls performed in the nude everyday chores and every now and then engaged in sex with other so-called amateurs).
Plus Abby Winters had a policy which is completely unrespectful of the client. As many of you know, in the adult industry the performers sign a clearance for their images to be published. And the customer relies on the respect of such deal.
On Abby Winters instead (where, as a matter of fact, performers are far for being amateurs as a whole) too often has happened that content disappeared overnight without justification simply because some performer asked for taking it down, in spite of the clearance she had signed (honey, when you undress in front of the camera and display yourself as a gyno patient you must be aware that everyone will see you forever, that’s why it’s required to be 18 to engage in such things).
And, in spite of the customer having paid for it, the site won’t make the deleted content available for private downloading or else.
Plus, the site had migrated from Australia (which best contribution to porn is Angela White, if I remember well) to Netherland more than a decade ago and it lost even that "homegrown" allure given by local performers acting as next door girls.
In my opinion Abby Winters (which, as a matter of fact, is quite surely a fictious name: the site’s founder claimed that Abbie Winters was an Aussie girl who wanted to perform alternative porn, but there’s no evidence she ever existed) survived almost 2 decades more than needed. Its core audience are people (99% male) who seek porn but self delude themself that the whore might fall in love of its client, instead of being kind with him just for money, as it always happens (and always will). Because of my work (event planning, not adult industry) I saw people at the "serious" porn conventions. Visitors collect to see the porn stars and to meet their favourite ones, but they know there’s a glass wall between the audience and the performers. Abby Winters, with their meetings with the subscribers, spread the - untrue, dangerous and toxic - idea that the performers undress for the pleasure to be seen and to interact with the audience, and that being sex positive on screen means also being promiscuous and prone to sex with everyone in real life.

Oh, and I forgot to say Abby Winters is boring, and very expensive for the content it provides? No need to elaborate the last point, everyone can compare the prices and the offers.
