With no job and a dwindling bank balance, Don found himself in a tough situation. Allan, on the other hand, continued to serve as the CEO of the company they both had once worked at. Don was initially hesitant, fearing that he would lose his independence or burden Allan. But Allan insisted, promising that they would navigate the journey together, as partners. Overwhelmed by Allan's unwavering support, Don finally agreed. 

Together, they moved into Allan's spacious apartment, where they started to build a life together, despite the turbulence of their past. Their relationship grew stronger with each passing day, as they learned to understand and support each other in this new phase of their lives.

 Still in Chapter 45:

Don decided to visit Allan's office one day. This time, he was not an employee but the partner of the CEO. As he walked through the familiar corridors, he saw things from a different perspective.

Upon reaching Allan's office, he noticed pictures of his ex-wife everywhere, a shrine to a love that was once vibrant. A pang of realization hit him. Allan's actions were not borne out of love for him, but jealousy of his ex-wife. He was merely a substitute, a replacement, a tool for Allan to fill the void left by his wife.

Don felt his world crashing down once more. The joy of finding love after such a traumatic incident seemed to be short-lived. He was merely a pawn in Allan's game of emotional chess. His heart was heavy, but he knew he had to confront Allan about it. The question remained - would Allan admit his real motivations?
