I missed the party!

A couple of weeks ago, Olivia's cousin's daughter received her First Communion. I was sick so I could not go to the ceremony, but Olivia did. Afterwards, there was a party for all the children and their families at a nearby "adventure park" where people can go hiking, boating, fishing, scavanger hunting, go on obstacle courses, etc. The intent was for everybody to just have a nice meal. But the cost of renting the place included all the other activities. So as not to waste money, most of the families did a bunch of other things too. Olivia said that the olace was full of little boys in suits and ties, little girls in white dresses, gloves, veils, stockings or socks, and shoes as well as their equally well dressed parents hiking on dirty trails, standing on muddy banks or in shallow water fishing, crawling along muddy obstacle courses, getting dirty playing with animals, or getting soaking wet jumping into various ponds or pools. Discarded formalwear littered the ground along with pairs of mary-janes or high heeled shoes, or boys leather shoes. By the end of the day, it had started pouring down rain and everybidy was a soaked, muddy mess. Olivia had great fun and I am so upset that I missed it!
