Our local paper this week reported the case of a woman aged 73 and her 50-year-old son who were found guilty of incest. They lived together and the son was not only an unmarried loner, he was a virgin. The case came to light because a nosey neighbour saw through a window the mother masturbating the son in his room in the evening with the light on and reported it. The son was naked but she was dressed and their lawyer said relations hadn't gone further than occasional masturbation at the son's request. His mother agreed to do it for him because she felt guilty about his inability to make friends and establish a relationship with a woman. The son told the court that he was a compulsive masturbator and was desperate that no woman had ever done it to him which is what he mostly fantasised about. He persuaded his mother to masturbate him some months before and it only happened a few times before they were caught. The neighour who told the police admitted under questioning that he regularly spied on the son masturbating because he never closed his bedroom curtains. He claimed he only did it because he could and denied he was gay at all. This was a victimless crime. The court gave them probation and ordered them to live separately so the guy will probably finish up in a hostel. In the meantime, they've both been humiliated by the reporting. What the man and his mother did privately was consensual and involved no one else. I wonder how often this happens without anyone hearing about it. Quite a lot I think.
