Some married friends of mine (who are outside the BDSM Lifestyle world) bend my ear as a sympathetic listener. I don't mind, they need to vent their frustrations and now and then I can offer some helpful advice.

 One friend I have has a husband I wouldn't wish on anyone.

 Imagine having an Impacted and Abcessed tooth...now also imagine lazy and negligent enough that you won't do as the mediclinic Dr. recommends...yes he's taking the antibiotics (when he remembers/she nags him to do so) but never does salt-water oral rinses or anything else due to laziness and apathetic negligence.

 NO, he's not suffering from Depression, he's just a schlub.

 They have a daughter, a beautiful, bright gem of a child...and he interacts with her less than a piece of furniture. To the point where she doesn't 'register' him when he comes home or leaves...there's NO connection between them.

 Thankfully, my friend is a really awesome Mom, even though it's her first time, she's good at the Mom-thing.

 

 I get things like this dumped on me, and obviously it makes me appreciate my little hubby that much more.

 Yeah, he's got serious problems, but he keeps 'trying' to do whatever he can with what capability he has. Yes, often things don't work out, but he Tries and never gives up. He's not negligent, nor is he apathetic. He doesn't burrow into the web via computer/phone to the exclusion of all else. He tidies up around the house, helps bring in groceries and such (LIGHT weight bags only) and is Involved, helpful as much as his abilities allow.

 

 After hearing my friend's troubles, I gave hubby a really big hug...he is not perfect, but he's damn good and I love/appreciate him all the more.
