I should explain that Martha personally 'handled' her stallions to prepare them before a mare were brought in to be serviced. This entailed washing the stallions appendage with soap and water. Also she would reach under his legs to hold and weigh his balls in her hand and she could judge if he the stallion was 'fully charged' as she would describe the exercise. I attended several stud farms as a young boy with my grandfather on the occasions he brought his mares to stud. As I became sexually active in later years what fascinated me (in hindsight) was that women/young girls were in the main the ones who handled the stallions and physically assisted them in the mounting of the mares. I often wondered was this was nature trying to tell us something here? One memory that always stuck in my mind was when my grandfather took me to a stud farm (not Martha's) where two young girls lead the stallion in to the mare and both of them assisted one holding back the mares tail and the other girl handling the stallions appendage ensuring that it was lined with the mares vulva. When everything was in place and the stallion began his rut they stepped back and watched the procedure with a deep sense of satisfaction.
