Why do we view castrated men the way we do?

A straight man with taboo thoughts
    (A request for discussion)

I'm a strange one! Well ... that's how I feel sometimes. I consider myself a straight male and always have. I see a woman in her late twenties or older and a small part of my mind wonders what she would be like in bed. I have always done this within my mind (only), without taking action, verbalizing the thought, or breaking relationship boundaries. I would venture a guess a lot of men think this way also with varying degrees of restraint.

After I say this, I think most would view me differently. First, let me say I have no desire to be a woman, transgender, or gay. Second, I've never had a relationship or sexual encounter that was not with a woman, nor do I want too. Third, I count myself as open-minded and will talk to anyone regardless of orientation as long as they respect MY boundaries.

So here is where people change their opinion of me. At 53 I still have a strong sex drive and yet wish I did not. Yes, I do have my reasons which are NOT about Kink, Fetish or Fantasy and I've extensively researched side effects. Since this is not considered normal 'man' thinking here in the States there is little I can do. If I go to a Doctor and tell him or her to ‘end my sex drive'; I will get referred to a Shrink. End of medical discussion and beginning of "therapy". This is an extremely taboo subject for men and women. I'd like to make clear; I'm not advocating this for anyone else. So what is so wrong with a straight man saying that he wants this? Anyone?

Here's something else to consider. We as humans choose to do this to our beloved pets. In the case of ranchers, to live stock (mostly with little thought or apathy); the goal being to protect them from each other and the ranchers from them as they get older and more aggressive. There are other reasons but that's not the point. Here's the point and strange part; we still call these animals "HE" and refer to them as "HIM". In the cases of cancer; a human male may undergo a bilateral orchiectomy. These people are still considered (by most) to be male ... and they should be!

When a straight guy voluntarily askes for this kind of procedure without ‘medical need', the medical and mental health community views this as a mental disorder. Notably a ‘Gender Identity Disorder' other than male-to-female (i.e., male-to-eunuch) and/or a ‘Body Identity Integrity Disorder'. The average person will shy away, make fun of, or even loath someone that even hints at wanting such a taboo procedure. If these same people were to find out a man had the procedure at his request, well that would be the day he would lose many friends and become a freak in their eyes. The real question is why do Doctors and people on the whole view neutered pets, gelded or castrated livestock, and bilateral orchiectomy cancer survivors as ‘male' and normal ... while ‘straight male volunteers' wishing to control sex drive are viewed so very different?

You are likely wondering 'why ask about such an unthinkable subject' ... Right? Well, I DO still have my sex drive and wish I didn't! There are a few, and I mean a very few, other men that feel the same or have the same thoughts. So please weigh in with your views and ideas.

In case anyone was wondering I talked to the supprot team and they are working on repairing the Blog page so clean text appears without the text format information mixed in with the posting.

When they finish I will try to clean this up and make it a bit more readable.

I agree with what you are saying and for myself the point is to stop the drive which a vasectomy will not do. As I said, I had already taken time to research medical information including side effects prior to posting.

I was just trying to understand why people and doctors view those that have it forced on them in one light and those that choose it in a different light. Thanks for leaving a comment.

That is a good question, but it should be pointed out that you are going beyond asking to go beyond a vasectomy which allows the testicles to keep producing testosterone to removing the organs altogether and losing some of your masculine qualities. There are medical consequences including hot flashes like menopause and loss of sexual desire. It is not a reversible procedure. While the subject is taboo, there is medical information available if you search for it.
