A legacy of the Past, the ‘Slut Squad’ as it had been christened, was the last ‘Women Police’ Section in Tasmania – the lack of Welfare Services and other amenities in the far North-West and somewhat wild and secluded West Coast of ‘The Apple Isle’ contributing to its’ very existence. However, it was becoming doubtful as to its’ long term future and Amanda Louise Matthews’ tenure as the ‘Officer in Charge’………nLesbianism was still illegal. So was Prostitution. nTasmania had long been a bastion of Conservatism – the Liberal Party Government being far more ‘Right Wing’ than those on ‘The Mainland’………nNevertheless, ‘Mandy’ took a rather more pragmatic view of both Lesbianism and Prostitution – far more than Eloise Michelle Ashworth or the notorious, Sergeant ‘Headjob Hanna’ Monaghan……..nLocated some one hundred and fifty kilometres further on from Launceston along the northern coastline of Tasmania, Burnie was far smaller than the state capital of Hobart, and both Launceston and Devonport - yet it offered its’ own particular temptations the the local Women Police’ Section…..nA few ‘Street Prostitutes – some Bi and Lesbian ‘Delinquents’ too. Businesswomen and Nurses…nBi-Curious Housewives and the newly-appointed Tasmanian Attorney-General, Samantha Rpbertson MP too – the City of Burnie situated within the ambitious conservative politician’s Electorate….nSergeant ‘Mandy’ Matthews had survived the lesbian ‘Night of the Long Knives’ that had so rocked the Tasmanian Police some eighteen months earlier – she had nevertheless secured Constable Cheyenne Thorne for her ‘Women Police’ Section, but had been unable to do much for ‘Blondie’ or ‘Headjob Hanna’ for both had been dismissed from the Tasmanian Police.nSergeant Candice McIntyre had been another casualty of the ‘Lesbian Witch Hunt’ – she’d been implicated in Prostitution with both ‘Acting’ Inspector Eloise ‘Blondie’ Ashworth and ‘Acting’ Sergeant ‘Headjob Hanna’ Monaghan, but had been allowed to resign. That just left the troublesome Caroline Elizabeth Marshall……..nConstable ‘The Cunt’ Marshall had been forced upon the ‘Women Police’ at Burnie…….n‘The Cunt’ though, was now working for ‘Mandy’ – she had no choice, for all her efforts to undermine ‘Blondie’ had come to nothing in the end. Rebecca ‘Becky’ Campbell was still the ‘Madam’ of ‘The Mayfair’ Massage Parlour in Devonport…….n‘Mandy’ had been astute enough to recognise that there was a certain need in Burnie and the dar North-West of Tasmania – nothing that would attract too much unwelcome attention if handled discreetly. Lesbianism had created a demand. And, the more that the ‘Right Wing Conservatives’ and both ‘The Moral Majority’ and ‘The Church’ in Tasmania condemned Lesbianism, the greater was the need for ‘pussy’ within ‘The Apple Isle’ and Burnie in particular. Like most Policewomen, ‘Mandy’ was sympathetic to the plight of Prostitutes – the ‘Officer in Charge’ of the Burnie ‘Women Police’ also morally ambivalent to Prostitution for she recognised it was something that was inevitable…….. nIt was wrong.
