Maria Odete Brito de Miranda de Souza (born 29 May 1959 in Rio de Janeiro, RJ), known artistically as Gretchen, is a Brazilian singer, actress, dancer, business owner, tetuber and influencer. Called "Queen do rebolado", she is the older sister of singer Sula Miranda and mother of seven children, including among these politician Thammy Miranda. As a singer she is known for her hits "Freak Le Boom Boom", "Conga, Conga, Conga" and "Melô do Piripi" and has sold about 15 million records. Since the 2010s, she has become notable for participating in several reality shows, including Exchange of Family, The Farm, Power Couple, Duelo de Mães, The Masked Singer Brazil and The Gretchens. The debut of Maria Odete as "Gretchen" for the general TV audience took place on the Carlos Imperial Program, in the extinct Rede Tupi. One of her demands was to act alongside her then-husband Gutto Guitar. Despite criticism for the poor performances, the films were sales successes. After the films she has stated several times that this work is her greatest regret, but that it was with her fee that she managed to rebuild her financial life and her career.
