The conservative Christian wife understands in her heart that to retain both her virtue, and her femininity, whilst being God-honouring and obedient to her husband, she must avoid excess, extending to her dress and deportment. If she is too aggressive and manly: wearing pants, perhaps, she will make herself unattractive, and unfit to be a mother. If she is too revealing or sensual: wearing shorts or revealing too much skin, she becomes little better than a harlot or common prostitute, and equally unfit to serve her true purpose as a mother. Instead she must be sweet, demure, and feminine. An example to her children, a handmaid to her husband, and recognisably a woman, but one who preserves her modesty before her community and the Lord.
