Sadism vs Masochism
|
Sadism
A sadist is someone who derives pleasure, especially sexual pleasure, from inflicting pain or degradation on someone else.
Masochism
A masochist is someone who derives pleasure, especially sexual pleasure, from experiencing pain or humiliation. (me)
Together, they make up what is referred to as sadomasochism (S&M) in the BDSM world.
Neither are considered clinical or mental illnesses as long as they're practiced within the three pillars of BDSM. The three pillars of BDSM are often referred to as Safe, Sane, and Consensual.
