Relations. What are they? How are they used? Why would someone ask you to be a relation?
We think of relations sometimes of family members. On our site this is not always the case.
Due to the recent rash of new relation requests on the site, this topic is worth the read.
The idea of a relation is to be connected to someone you really do know.
* This could be someone you really know.
* Could be someone you met on this site in real life.
* Someone you have shared personal information beyond what you would do with any other user or fan on the site.
* If you only associate with a handful of people on the site, then you could add a user as a relation.
You see, just adding people as a relation for no particular reason defeats the purpose. The user you add as a relation might as well just be a fan.
Lately you might have noticed some people will want to add you as a relation. If you have no idea who this person is, then it's pointless to add them as a relation.
What they will do is try to be your friend. And eventually get you to click on a link or something like that. When you do - you are in for a heap full of trouble.
Most of the users on our site will never have a real reason to add someone as a relation. You can accept all the relations you want to just look cool. But again its pointless if you have no idea who the person is. Judging the relation request just by looking at a profile with a hot girl, usually born in 1992 or 1993 is no reason to accept a relation.
