Site Overhaul

Postby crazeejosh on Sat Feb 07, 2026 7:52 am

I think the Imagefap UI could use a serious overhaul. As a member since 2006 (20 damn years), it's really looked the same since I've been here and now, with all the missing profile photos, it just looks abandoned. Is there only one moderator that works the site, as well?

I doubt anyone here disagrees with you, and the problems with missing profile avatars and club logos will hopefully be fixed soon.

Well said. I whole-heartedly agree. It does tend to feel like we are participating in a sinking ship.
Such a lot of the basic tools on this site fail to work, some have not worked for years. A number of the quaint old rules too need revising for the modern day.
The whole condescending atmosphere here of treating members like naughty children and slapping down their contributions - whole galleries deleted for just a slip-up for example. The life of the whole site relies on the willingness of its members' participation, this high-handedness is far extreme, outdated and unhelpful. Major changes are needed before the sense of dereliction becomes even more obvious - members can't be bothered any more and leave.
And that would be a great shame. CEG.

Just at this point:

Avatars and club logos both have the same problem because they seem to be the "same kind of data" in the logic of the site programming: Avatars.

So this problem will be fixed as soon as every user uploaded a new avatar and every club manager set a new club logo.

The answer of @longhairfish tells me that obviously there aren't backup files from the avatar images. So deleted is deleted. And the "magically reappearing avatars" probably are the user's cache content.

Yuuup! So take hammer and nails, get some wooden tables and some teak doors from the dining room and nail them together. Don't be a dumb little spoiled brat waiting until you occasionally find a wooden plank to climb on and let your lover drown when you are in the ice cold water already.

Perhaps it would help already if each user will upload a new avatar to make IF look better. Just like you. Nice one btw.

But an overhaul? I think it would help a lot if all the bugs are fixed. One can't even write "can't" at the moment without distorting the text. It began with characters like ä á and other special characters in the gallery titles some years ago.

In the comment and status update section this is fixed meanwhile for new entries. Perhaps by programming but that's the wrong way I think It's a database problem with character encoding because gallery titles with special characters did not display at all after upload but appeared correctly after the title was edited then.

So before this site gets any overhaul it needs quite a lot of bug fixes.

Honestly, I have a lot of sympathy for the people running IF these days. It’s difficult enough trying to fend-off the usual bot-driven spam and crap, but sites like this are under a ton of scrutiny and pressure from the global powers-that-be.

Even though IF is (I believe) served out of the Netherlands, I suspect the current US administration’s quiet war against porn sites (or any site they’ve decided is an enemy) is exerting heavy pressure on governments worldwide to crack-down on sites like this. I mean, even though IF is based far outside the US, it still felt the pressure/need to institute age verification for many US-based visitors.

I will not be surprised if IF institutes even stricter useage policies at some point soon. Or, simply disappears because the pressure becomes overwhelming.

And, yeah, the flood of AI garbage sucks.

Their UI is least of my worries, in fact I like the UI as it is. It's a time capsule from the 2000s era. Zoomerfags want everything to be touchscreen because they're computer illiterate retards who don't know how to use a computer. The uploader is the main issue. Everyday is a constant battle because the uploader keeps failing. They have had issues with the uploader for well over 10 years now! And now they are having server issues which is not helping. I still remember a time when users here could upload ZIP files containing images, & it worked like a charm. The newer uploader is also a massive memory hog. Sometimes I upload GIFs & my browser ends up using over 5 GB of ram, because the uploader wants to display the images as large images rather than as icons like the older uploader, thus eating at my memory. The older uploader gave a green check mark next the icons to let you know the image or whatever uploaded successfully & a red X when it failed. It wasn't perfect but it at least worked. Code Error 0 is a pain in my ass. Always shit is failing & I have to check if the image uploaded correctly. Like seriously, why can't the site retry uploading the images by itself? Why do I have to manually check if everything uploaded correctly? It never was a pain in the ass until they updated the uploader.

UI changes can come later. Fix the uploader & server issues first.
