Also the Edit description doesn't seem to work
you click it and it disappears, but I can't work out how to change the description

You mean for a gallery? I just tested it. It works. At least on desktop.

Switch to edit mode -> edit the description -> click the "Save"-button

I figured it out, it was the pop-up blocker stopping the description box from coming up

Ummm...

Yes, ok. I forgot that. It really is a bit tricky to get the site to work correctly and have the ads and pop-ups blocked anyway.
