Static preview images only - Stop GIFs from playing

There are galleries where almost every image is an animated GIF.
Takes very long to load on my slow connection.

Can I tell my browser to download only the first frame of each animated GIF?
(at least for the preview images)

I'm using Firefox, but I'll use another browser for Imagefap if I need to.

I tried it and it works. I double clicked on image.animation_mode. Typed in none. Perfect!

GIFs are really not the best format for animations. They have a limited color palette & you have to optimize them to create high quality GIFs. APNG is better & lossless but the filesizes are bigger & there is less support for them. APNG is better than GIFs because of its unlimited color palette. But WEBMs are better than both GIFs & APNGs because it's widely supported, has lossless quality like APNG, & with a smaller filesize. I don't even want to touch WEBP. Fuck that Google bloat filetype.
