Incorrect count of user galleries?

When viewing user profile, one can easily check the total number of galleries, uploaded by said user - it's on the front page, right above the preview of the last 5 galleries:
Galleries (total number of galleries) (See All Galleries)

However, in some cases the displayed number is far from correct. For example, in this profile:

Displayed total number is 2680 galleries. The real total is 1035 (yes, I counted). The difference is rather significant.

Anyone know how does that happen? Something was uploaded and then deleted?

One reason might be that the user has priavte galleries. Sometimes they count, sometimes they don't.

Another reason I already noticed can be that some galleries are more than once in the profile.

But to be honest... are you an accountant?
