504 Gateway timeouts

Postby mspaintfuta on Thu Mar 26, 2026 12:11 pm

Its nothing uncommon to get an occasional gateway timeout when browsing but lately I'm getting them on every other thing I click on. Not having any trouble with any other sites, tons of bandwidth, hardwired etc etc. Anything known going on or anything I can check?
e: sorry meant to post this in help & support

Have been getting the same 504 issues for around a week now. Around every third click or so hangs for a long time, and then the 504 screen pops up. Usually I can hit "back" and then the photo will load after some time, but then the next one (or the one after that) hangs. Also, the site is running very slowly in general.

I am in the USA if that matters. I am mentioning my location as the problem only eases in the evening hours here. During the day and after (around) midnight, the site is nearly unusable.

No issues with any other site, based anywhere in the world. I'm on high speed fiber. I've tried clearing all IF cookies, restarting everything involved with my connection, etc. Nothing I do seems to affect the problem.

[This probably belongs in the "Help & Support" section, but since the topic has been raised here I didn't make a new post in that section.]

Identical problems here. At first I thought it was the free VPN I've been testing, but the site has become very slow in general these last few days, with frequent 504 errors and no changes at this end.

Longhairfish has given an update in the announcement section. Looks like there are some serious issues with the site that are going to take some time to fix, and not in the next few days but possibly a good number of weeks. From what I can ascertain the 504's are a part of it and also the general lagging and slowness of the site in general are all connected. The tech's working on it are not the ones who created it, so it's probably a minefield of putting it right. We just have to hang in there!

The update is - I don't have one.

The IT guys are fully aware of the issue. And that is all I know. Nothing else.

Well, you might want to relate to them that if these issues persist for much longer people are going to stop using this site. It’s been a month!

As I already stated the 504 problem is not a problem of imagefap. Positively not.

I crawl this site and the forum almost daily and yes, I get 504 errors. One every few days.

I don't know if I have another imagefap or if it's because I come from another country than those who have massive 504 errors.

Again: A 504 Error tells you that one of the servers between the website and your client is slow. Perhaps it is the site. Yes. But if it is imagefap they must have given me an extra connection. A faster one.

Perhaps ALL those who see a lot of 504's should check the speed of all the hops in the chain first. And then complain where the error comes from.
