Why do i need to verify my mail everytime i want to upload content? I never had to do this before, for years. Now, literally every time i want to upload i need to verify my mail. What happened?

This isn't the correct forum section to ask technical questions. However I have the same issue. Because of the puritanical laws in the UK, I have to use a VPN to view my favourite porn site (naughty me) I want to upload some pictures but I am now being asked for a code which is sent to me email address. However my email won't let me enter if I'm using a VPN and locks me out. I can't turn off the VPN as I won't be able to view IF. I refuse to check in with an age checker, since I am an adult and it's non of the UK governments business what porn site I view.
So why the change ?
