Moviefap - Age Registration Nonsense

Hi everyone!

My guess is that a very small portion of the users don't know much about the new UK law which
says you need to verify your age to porn sites as well as other "shady" sites which could be harmful to children.

Starting today our sister website moviefap.com will show you a display telling you that you need to prove your age.

It is up to you if you want to submit your personal information to this 3rd party website. I have only heard of them just recently. So I can't tell you much about them.

In short and without having to look at pages of what the verification process is all about :

The UK's age verification story centers on the Online Safety Act (OSA), introduced in 2023 and coming into effect in July 2025,
which legally requires social media platforms and adult content providers to implement age-checking
measures. The goal is to protect children from harmful online content, including pornography,
and material related to suicide and self-harm.
However, the implementation has faced criticism for its potential impact on privacy and free expression,
with concerns about its effectiveness, cost, and the potential for increased surveillance.

So you might say "Fuck that, just let us all on the site!". Well yeah, that might happen for a little while.
Eventually hefty fines "could" come down to the sites who don't comply. And nobody wants to take that chance.

So now what? You prefer to not give out your name or anything else to verify your age. You can use a VPN.

Most everyone has no idea what a VPN is. You should Google or AI that.

What about imagefap? My crystal ball says bad days are coming. You will have to do the same thing - a VPN. And that "should" some no later than September 28th.

Here is the thing! Lets say the age check "thing" happens on the 28th. Unless you read this forum post (most don't) then you will be blocked if you are in the UK.

The UK is not fooling around. So we should not mess around with them.

Also 28 states in the USA have also passed measures or laws to protect children. I have no news about this - yet.

Personally, since I have more free time than most people, I have read dozens of site. Read the UK rule(s) over and over.

This is how it will be. At least for now. Some major websites (porno and so on) are pushing back on this law. These site have major money to throw around
and they have real good lawyers. I would by lying if I said that was good news.

Whilst helping to protect children is paramount, this law will never work..there will always be a way to circumvent government interference.

In my younger days, adult content meant stumbling across Dad's nudey books. Stuff available on the internet these days though can be more extreme so I guess the UK government is trying to do the right thing but having to register my personal information with a 3rd party company isn't something I'm keen on doing.

I pay a lot of hard earned money for my internet connection so whatever legal content I choose to access is my business. I've used a paid VPN for many years (although the law says that sites shouldn't advocate the use of VPNs) but I encourage others to do the same (just do your research though and ignore the free ones).

Unfortunately Australia is following England’s lead on this. A very similar process will be introduced in March 2026; I will do a bit of research and update this post with some details.

Just use Opera browser. It comes with a free VPN built in. You just click the VPN button next to the search bar and you can access the sites. No hassle at all.

I'm not up to speed on how this sort of stuff works. Can I assume that this only pertains to folks coming to Moviefap (and, apparently later, Imagefap) with UK-based IPs?

You are right. And yes the seven sites we have on our network will also run in to the same problem. From a legal point it seems the 28th is the date for UK users.

USA states - I don't know yet. Other countries may or may not require blocking.
