Minimizing the announcement section

Postby bottomsup88 on Fri Oct 23, 2026 10:46 pm

So after the main forum page where So once we read what we need from the announcements section it would be great to be able to minimize it or have the posts we've read not show up in the list or not have it show up on every single page once you navigate beyond the main index page. That section is huge and you have to scroll past it every time you go to the next page when in the Topics section. Also Make the Mark Forums read option to do the sections separately. I hit that wanting to do that for the announcements section, because thats where the button was, and it marked everything read. The world didnt end or anything, everyone survived :) Just frustrating lol

Yes, confusing isn't it. Too many announcements and in no sort of order. It would be nice when checking into the forum for any changes that we need to be aware of, to see a new announcement at the top of the list and in date order.

This has been mentioned before, but it has been a while.

For me to manage this forum which has been around for 20+ years is practically impossible.

The forum has been patched manually by the IT and web design guys dozens of times.

The forum can't be upgraded because it is obsolete.

And there is no other type of forum that we could use unless we start from scratch. There is no importing of this (PHPbb) into another type of forum.

And if we did make a new forum, people would still ask the same questions just like this one.

Yeah, we could just leave this forum in "read only" mode and start new. I can tell you now that would be confusing to most people.
