This is just a guess, but maybe the age verification site sets a cookie in your browser? If so, it would disappear if your browser is set to delete cookies on exit.

Using cookies would be a lame-ass way to implement it, but from a developer's point of view it may be an easier fix than changing the login process on this site.

I'm now affected to a degree by the age verification thing. So far I have been unable to access a couple-few "adult entertainment" sites. Sometimes I can successfully access a site later. It seems to have been coincident with using my phone as a hotspot. As far as I know, my state hasn't passed the age verification nonsense, but my phone number is from a state that has. Can anyone confirm or deny that my phone number might be causing that?

Up to now, it's been more annoying than anything else, but I can see it becoming more trouble than it's worth. I came across an article on this subject that I won't post here (as I'm unsure that posting it is 100% in compliance with the rules), but suffice it to say that I ain't gonna share sensitive personally identifying information just so I can get my rocks off. If the powers that be can't with a method of age verification that isn't reliant upon such information, I want nothing to do with it.

Not all porn sites (or operators of many porn sites) have managed to get the blocking of their sites set up just right. If the owners have a skeleton IT crew this can turn out to be a pain in the ass. When that happens some sites will simply shut down and say "fuck this shit" because it simply isn't worth paying someone to take care of the blocking, hire a company to accept payments and the heavy fines that will come. The fines are another story.

Speaking of, this is a partial news story this past week :

I, too, can see that outcome. From a business standpoint, the small sites will find it better to sell their assets off to a bigger site or throw in the towel.

I recently downloaded the Opera browser and tried two of the sites I mentioned before. One still had me outright blocked, and a second "soft-blocked" me (I didn't get a "your state has blocked you" notice, but the thumbnail images are blurred out unless I logged in.) Clicking the VPN button in Opera prompted me to start a "free trial." What a surprise. The site that "soft-blocked" me is a cam site, so it's looking increasingly like it is no longer worth my time or data. At least I still have a little while to get this bullshit shoveled away before my planned move.

The age registration stuff was already bad enough, but it's recently changed. With the previous verification it did at least remember I'd done it all before and even though it asked for it again every time I visited the site, it would then see I'd already done it.

Now it's changed to this "AgeGo" system, which not only asks for the info every time, but now only allows access once a code has been entered that is sent to your email... a code that always takes a ridiculously long time to appear in my emails. Why was this change made? More to the point, why was the change made to this particularly system that is so slow and annoying?? It's no surprise I've never seen this one used on any other site I visit.

Please change it, or at least just add a field against the user id that verifies if the age crap has been passed.
It only needs to be performed once per account, period. Not every time a user logs in.

As I mentioned earlier, WE have nothing to do with how the age registration site works. We just use their services. I have no way to contact them.

If you can, email their site and see what can be done.
