About Me
I am currently researching the history of female correction. Such work almost always carried out by stout women. There are a number of firms out there that have been involved in the noble art of slut shaming over several generations. Examining their archives and interviewing staff have provided me with a most valuable resource for my work. In particular, a local firm, Turners Slut Shamers have been very helpful. Turners is a well respected family run firm in the County of Gloucestershire, The sisters' own maternal great-great-grandmother had been head matron at Gloucester Work House and as such would have been responsible for overseeing any slut-shaming carried at the home. Later records show that she passed the tradition on to her daughter, as it was this daughter, that set up one of the first independent enterprises in the UK, This was the Cheltenham Imperial School for Wayward Women and was the predecessor to the present day firm - Turners' Slut Shamers. A more detailed answer, we be to explain that correctional centres receive complaints from groups of women about a given individual. Turners are based in the countryside and the complaints received are generally from women from rural communities, villages and small towns. Typically they will have identified a woman as a slut - so a bone-fide genuine slut or merely a local flirt, a glamour-puss or such like - basically someone they take a dislike to (jealousy plays a part). These women need to account for 6 witnesses that will attest to the sluttishness. Turners, if persuaded to the merits of the application, will then make an application to a local Magistrates' Court for a Slut Remedy Order - provides for a 6 monthly in-house course of treatment at Turners. 6 months of discomfort, degradation and disgrace. If the bench grants the order, Turners arrange for delivery (what would amount to a kidnap, if it weren't for the court order) to their centre - and from there the treatment can begin.
