Dressed only with an old bedsheet, she was taken blindfolded to the big meadow, there handed over to Jo, exactrix mortis, crux-mistress extraordinaire, and her team of willing young helpers. Down on the field, ready for the walk over to the execution site, the girl stood alone, gazing up, gazing around, looking down, somewhat stupefied really . . . Then she dropped to her knees, sobbing, and after a few moments rolled back and collapsed in a faint. "Get up you silly bitch" shouted Jo, more than once, but wasn't heard. Coming round, blondie knelt down, with difficulty as hands were tied at back, and looked around sky again, before getting to her feet and staring blankly at Jo. "Start walking" commanded Jo, "over that way, towards the trees at the far side of the field." At first the girl went in the wrong direction, head down, just plodding thoughtlessly. "No, not that way, over to the right, where the gap is . . ." came the command. "Get a move on; we haven't got all day and where you're going, you might take all of it." Clad in just a makeshift white loin-cloth and a vague resemblance to a poncho, she began trudging across the big field to where lay the big frame on which she would later hang naked, crucified.
