Recent Issues re Adding images to existing galleries

Postby jimjam140 on Wed Feb 09, 2011 7:25 pm

Generally, the technical side of Imagefap gets better & better (disappearing images notwithstanding), however the recent update that means that galleries to which you have added images do not move to the top of your galleries list is a retrograde step - hopefully this a glitch that will soon be sorted, rather than a deliberate change. :?

Can I live in hope that this change will be reversed, or the glitch rectified? This is really quite a fundamental change to he modus operandi

This has been noted, however I don't know whether this is likely to be rectified any time soon, as the coders don't have a huge amount of time on their hands. So it looks like we are just gonna have to live with it for now, and hopefully the problem will be corrected sooner rather than later.

As Jim mentioned, when adding pics to the galleries the new pic gets the same date as when the gallery was initially made. Kind of confusing in it self when people are trying to find the newest pics in the album. But the main problem is that when the pics gets the wrong date the galleries stays put and when my fans (well, I have some) visit my profile checking for updates in the galleries they are interested in they see that it's not on the front page - hence not updated and move on. Kind of a letdown.. but - you are aware of the problem.. I just wanted to say that Jim is not the only one having problem with this..

Hope it will be rectified soon :)

eh.. just noticed that the change makes even a bigger problem for me, the galleries I updates will not show in any of my clubs, nor will they show up in new/updated galleries in the main "gallery"-tab on the site. So.. THATS why I get no hits these days.. feels a bit cumbersome making new galleries each time I've made a new pic for someone..

Oh well..

Anyway - thanks for letting me went this :)

Do you mean this discussion?
"Bump-less" Uploader problem persists I was beginning to wonder if I wasn't the only one it was happening to. Good to see that I'm not.

Could we do the mods a favor and continue the discussion on one or the other of the running threads. I vote for mine, but I'm partial ;)

Unless something has changed in the months since I've been adding to my own clubs, the Club part of the gallery side software still "dumps" (as opposed to "bumps") any galleries added to a club list when new pictures are added to that gallery. In other words, you have to add them back. Again, this might have changed. But the end-up to how it used to work -- and this from the time that Clubs were introduced till the beginning of last year -- is that it gives you, as a Club owner, a much fairer chance of getting your new pics views counts, as any gallery added or re-added shows up at or near the top of the list (so long as that part is still working as it has always done).

Hope this was helpful.

No, this isn't at all helpful! This is not the issue being discussed, and the situation you mention has always been the case (unfortunately). The issue is that when you add new images to a gallery, the system does not allocate the date of the update to the gallery, and hence the gallery does not appear at the top of your gallery list. This is a recent change, and hopefully is a bug, not a "feature"

My recent updates to my usually very popular "Poster Wives" galleries have had almost no hits - to the point where I see no point in adding any updates until the problem is fixed. Why should I spend substantial time enhancing images and creating posters if the system doesn't allow them to be visible?

I didn't like the new and improved fap uploader, having to scroll thru a list
to add images to the gallery I was working on! But they fixed it! THANKS!!
Now it's just one extra click for web or mobile based uploads. I also see the
Fap addressed the pissy winers saying my bondage gallery was in a wrong
cat. to them I say fu, they probally don't even use the cats.

well,as a last resort, I will either reload the entire gallery with both the old & the new posters at every update, or I stop posting altogether. There's no point posting if no one sees the fruits of my labour.
