Cut-off comments

sometimes I make a comment that has more than two or three words in it. (maybe more than twenty or thirty even) and when I hit [post comment] only half of what I types shows up. Why is it cutting off what I type? I even just tried to 'answer' myself so I could re-type what is missing and it cut that off after two words.
