"Un-delete selected" button in galleries (huh?!)

Postby Silversleeves on Thu Apr 21, 2011 5:04 pm

Presumably this button is to use after you have deleted a picture.

QUESTION: How can you un-delete something that's deleted if you can't see it to select it?

This button makes no sense to me.

It'd be better for all concerned if the techs would either explain it to the members, mods or Admin, or remove it altogether.

It's the button highlited in green. This is in view mode, btw. I also see it in edit mode.

If you don't see it, then that's one more reason to take it out of the code, imo. The label is confusing, if nothing else. Of course, waiting for an explanation from the techs of what it was meant to do, if Block User is any example, is like waiting for the Moon to split or one of the geysers at Yellowstone to start spewing Jack Daniels. Which is to say, I give it no odds at all.

Doh. Now I see it. Yeah, this needs a tweaking. It doesn't make sense to me. Well, in a twisted way it does. But as it sits right now I don't see anyone using it.

Also, when I delete an image (this is good - ready?) I get an email saying that my picture has been deleted and to refer to the uploading guidelines or something like that. This could and probably will be fixed though to change it to a non generic email letting you know you deleted your own picture. Guessin.

Not a bad idea. It'd be the best rationale to keeping it I could think of. Glad someone else did instead. *G*

Could the techs have meant "Un-select selected" and "delete" there is a typo? Un-select makes a lot more sense. Like "Select all" and "Unselect all" in the BB code generator. BZT

And of all the simple (?!) things they could'a done, they missed correcting this little one. BZT

Just checked out the button, turns out that it doesn't do much, it just de-selects any selected and returns you to the top of the page. I suspect that it was added possibly in an attempt to balance some code.

"Yeah, but the phrasing's still funny." That's what this thread was meant to point out (up?). BZT
