I know people don't really read these, but I need to get this off my chest.
Earlier today, I received a comment on one of the captions in my new drawn caption gallery. The commentor was upset that I was using a pic with a specific backstory for an unrelated caption. They also insulted the quality of the caption itself. My response was to say that I didn't care what they thought. But that's not true. I do care.
First, a bit about my process: I gather images for possible captions by browsing various galleries here and in several other places across the internet (and yes, I do fap while I look. Sue me). I then save any pics I like to my hardrive, and go back later to pic the best ones to use for captions.
Basically, if there's a specific context to a pic that I find, I usually have no way of knowing it, without having to do a LOT of research, and it just doesn't seem worth the trouble. So I write whatever story pops into my head when I look at the pic. Because that's just what I do; I get these ideas, and I want to get them out there. And if that means I sometimes write stories over pics with pre-existing plotlines, then so be it. I try to avoid using pics that I know have specific stories behind hem if I know the story, and I prefer not to use pics with characters from specific, mainstream, media, but other than that, I jsut don't feel the need to be that picky.
Now, the commentor also said that I stole this pic for my "cheap knock-off fantasy", and I should be ashamed (I should point out as well that this commentor is NOT the original artist or anything like that). That one hurt. I know the themes I've come up with for my caps aren't great, and they need developing, but still, I feel a certain amount of pride in my own creations, especially since I worked hard to write these caps. The Metamorphosis is, I admit, a bit cheesy, but I've been throwing the idea of a global transformation event in my head for years, ever since I started getting into furry stuff. I really liked the idea of the world waking up one day to find that they had become anthro furries. I thought that how people dealt with that change would be interesting to address. And I also thought that, since I also like the whole gender-transformation/herm-transformation thing, I could add it in there as well, and explore even more interesting subjects.True, I took some inspiration from The Great Shift idea, which is a global body swapping event, but I wouldn't necessarily call what I did a knock-off.
I know I shouldn't let one commentor get to me like this, but I just can't help it. I'm not really sure why, but I wanted to explain myself for future reference. I also wanted to say that if I am at any point contacted by the original artist of a pic, and they request that I take down a caption I did on their work, I will do it gladly. I consider these captions a tribute to their original artists,a way of letting them know that Ienjoy what they've done. If they don't like the captions, then I will make my respect them clear by taking my work down.
Thank you to anyone who reads this post, and thank you to all my fans. Without the support you've shown, I would never have done as much as I have.
